  Just shaved over 16 minutes off a pipeline by baking installs and docker pulls into the base image of the test runner, so it doesn't have to do it in the pipeline. That's 16 minutes where it wasn't even running any tests. Just overhead.

  This time, I submitted phpc.tv expenses in my home currency (CAD). I hope it will be accepted. Last time, I noticed that OpenCollective was messing up the exchange rate so badly that I got 27% less than the expenses I incurred. This translates to ~$74 per month, or $888 per year out of my own pocket, *despite* being supported by the community. That made no sense to me.

  Working on a side project (video game) and TDD-ing some domain objects that I thought would take me half a day. Then 15 lines of code later "oh, that's all it really needs to do". I love the practices I follow. It makes seemingly big and complicated things almost absurdly simple.

  What's so hard to understand about "I don't feel safe traveling to that country"? I was detained twice already and had my passport taken away for the duration. People have different circumstances, past experiences, and risk tolerance. You'd think that such s conversation would take all of 5 seconds. You don't have a nut allergy? Enjoy your Snickers. Don't try to convince someone with an allergy to take a bite.

  Those who value speed over quality will inevitably see quality drop. LLMs bring speed that makes reviews, design and just *thinking* about what you're doing very slow in comparison to the code generation. Therefore, you'll take shortcuts to keep up. Therefore, quality will drop. Guardrails discussions are a red herring. You want quality, but the biggest bottleneck was always the thinking, and the many decisions that you made along the way. Now you delegate these decisions to chance.

  Oh great, JetBrains quality keeps going down the drain. Some recent version wiped the entire workspace of 4 different engineers. Now DataGrip is starting to drop data sources for everyone. What a frigging disaster.

  I think I found my new favorite colony sim. The roguelite elements work well with this genre. It's what was missing for me in the other games: shorter games (a few hours each) with more variation between runs, and a long meta-progression.   Please remember to argue the points people made, not points you made up because you either didn't read or because you wanted to discuss an entirely different topic. Sometimes conversations can lead into other topics and that ok, but test the waters first.   Right-wing people in my circles aren't only egotistical, but they also seem to not understand how anything works. Not the human body, not the economy, not ecology, no knowledge of history, and will even deny the existence of clearly spelled out laws even after being shown them. I'm not saying that one has to be devoid of knowledge and reasoning abilities to be right-wing, but there's definitely a strong correlation in the observed sample.

  No, I will not install you app. In the browser, I can turn off ads, trackers, can control permissions much more reliably and can choose to never worry about push notifications. Plus, apps are not even faster than the web version.
