  I read that weird ‘apology’ from OpenAI and it was the weirdest mush of technobabble I’ve read outside of… I dunno, satire maybe. Like someone had read a bit of a William Gibson and watched a bit of Star Trek and thought, “I’ll have a go at that”. But no, a real thing out here in the supposedly real world.

  Saw a video clip of a thing, but it wasn't clear so I looked it up. The first result appeared to be a real news site, but the photo on the article was… suspicious. Entirely different kind of building. The kind of thing an LLM would come up with from “Italian court building partially collapses” so it looked like the (American) ‘Italianate' architectural style, with a street of picturesque rubble.   Oh well. Failed at interview 4 of 5. I was pretty hopeful about this one, but no. Of course I could easily have done the job, of course I could, but interviews, apparently even though they’re not the job, they’re the only job you have to be good at.

  Still going through my photo library sorting it into albums, adding keywords and so on (I take pictures and screenshots of everyyythinnng as a memory crutch). I’m now on early March 2020 and bloody hell it’s like the foreshadowing bit of a disaster movie. Wasn’t expecting it to hit so hard, but I know what’s coming now.

  Sat in the workshop with the door open. This rarely happens so every now and again a local cat would come to the door all curious and sniffing things, then see me and get this look of absolute astonishment. Any movement from me and peeyoww they’d be off like a shot. Many of these cats know me, but clearly this was too far out of context for them to handle. I think the orange one was more startled as it likes to roll around on the doormat outside.

  Had a bit of medicalness lately (an unexpected reoccurrence of something I’d expected to stay fixed for longer) which means with the heat I have been deeply bone tired. But! The temperature is kinda nice right now so I should be able to sleep well tonight and I’m looking forward to that. Also the medical thing increases the chances of getting a permanent fix sooner though, which is positive.

  Had a conversation involving The Past today, which I usually avoid, but it made me look up my old school. Turns out this year is a round number of decades since I was there and some of my year group did a reunion. I am not in touch with any of them since I had a terrible time there and most of them were awful people. I saw the photos and didn’t recognise a single one of them. There were names I remembered but I couldn’t have matched them to any of the faces.

  The Kazanlik Damascus Rose is flowering, loads more than last year. This is the variety that Turkish Delight is flavoured with, it smells amazing.
