RE: https://seattle.pink/@mxchara/116953969423845431 "a hyperpolitical entity shouldn't be here" misses the entire point of what politics is and what public platforms can contribute. Human rights are political. Who wields power over human rights is political. Art, games, food, even the weather, are all political. Pointing out ways to avoid the content you don't want to see, and then being told to stop whingeing and go away, is politics.

RE: https://federate.social/@mattblaze/116949865230742008 I'm with Matt on this exchange, that has been going on a while. The harassment of, especially, thoughtful writers, educators, journalists, higher profile accounts on here drives so many people away and on to Bluesky. If the Vatican started an instance on the Fediverse, would you demand CW on any religious posts? It's on you to avert your eyes, mute, block, etc. You have the tools. #3GoodThings 1. It seems like I see a lot of Black Phoebe birds these days, even a few together. Must be fledgelings begging for food. Such beautiful black birds. 2. Also saw an osprey fly overhead, with a small fish pointed forward to reduce drag. Or maybe to spare the fish too much motion sickness before it met its doom. 3. Visited a pottery and a painter's studio on the local Open Studio weekend.

#3GoodThings 1. Feeling connected to a stalwart collection of fellow gray-hairs who stand peacefully at a public space downtown to hold up signs of resistance to fascism. It is not pointless. 2. Living close enough to the North Pacific that I don't yet suffer heat danger the way so many inland do. 3. Rediscovered a CD of Hawaiian duo Hapa, with their cover of U2's Pride, with Hawaiian chant and some of MLK Jr. speaking. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wij4cgNEGWo

Anyone have good websites that they always have a tab open for? Like things not overloaded with ads or other obstructions, but that bring calm or curiosity or amusement, and that have you returning regularly? #GoodSites

Gradually going through more boxes and bags, and came across these relics. Reminds me that in 2020, medical workers were DYING, and we were advised to let the scarce high-filtration PPE like N95 masks go to health facilities. Until expert tests in Virginia proved SARS Cov-2 hung in the air for hours, we wore "droplet" barriers that were nearly useless against actual virus inhalation. Californians got free ones in the mail. #CoVid
