Human rights are political. Who wields power over human rights is political. Art, games, food, even the weather, are all political. Pointing out ways to avoid the content you don't want to see, and then being told to stop whingeing and go away, is politics.

    @USelaine@mastodon.online "everything is political" may be true but it's a very poor excuse to perpetuate the social-media illusion that government officials intend to present themselves on the Internet as if they were just ordinary users. instead what ALWAYS happens is that these government (or corporate or other) officials start demanding privileged treatment, such as censorious moderation in order to protect those officials from criticism, and the end result is a medium corrupted into an arm of official propaganda for the powerful. and remember you only brought up the Vatican as a specious example of an organization that should be exempt from community standards about content warnings. you deliberately invoked the example of a powerful government who implicitly ought to be allowed to play by their own rules.
