And another #tech question, especially for #chronicillness pals. My Fitbit helps me stay on top of flares - the sleep and heart rate variability tracking is the single most useful tool I have for this. But in Feb, they’re going to cut me off unless I connect my Google account, which I don’t want to do. Is there any privacy focused wearable out there? Is there a good option at all?

I listened to Black Water Sister by Zen Cho and enjoyed it. Ah Ma was such a cranky, sharp-edged spirit and watching Jessamyn develop as a character was so satisfying. I also loved the spirit (little god?) at the construction site, although I have no idea how to spell his name because I did the audiobook. And the ending with the Black Water Sister was pretty good (though maybe I wish it had been a bit more fleshed out). #amreading #bookstodon

I am also thinking about what kind of small collective narrative project would be useful in response to the escalating anti-trans rhetoric after the tragedy in Tumbler Ridge, BC. I think probably this will look like a facilitated conversation or small series of conversations, and then creating a collective document. I think with a focus on how we, as #trans folks affected by these ideas, are holding on to a sense of ourselves. If you want to be part of this, let me know.

This week I submitted a co-authored paper, titled - '“It’s allowed a little bit more space in the world for me”: Reading Never Say You Can’t Survive and Lessons in Magic and Disaster together at a time of rising hostility to trans folks, a review of the books and the process' (it's a clunky title, but I am not great at titles - it says what it is, at least!). The initial feedback from one of the editors was "Wonderful! Loved it!" so, that's nice!...

My new doctor thinks maybe I have MCAS and that’s part of why I’ve been having these week-long headaches so frequently. (It also fits a lot of other stuff going on.) We are trying a treatment protocol and I started the first of the three new meds last night. Today I feel wrecked, but I’ve also had a really long few weeks, so it might be unrelated to the antihistamine. I’m going to take it easy today and read trans books for the Trans Rights Readathon and sew a new shirt.

I have a headache. But I have headaches so often these days that it feels boring to say. Like saying I'm breathing, or I am awake when I am obviously awake. And yet. Still I say it. Because it sucks and I don't like it.
