And another #tech question, especially for #chronicillness pals. My Fitbit helps me stay on top of flares - the sleep and heart rate variability tracking is the single most useful tool I have for this. But in Feb, they’re going to cut me off unless I connect my Google account, which I don’t want to do. Is there any privacy focused wearable out there? Is there a good option at all?

@Tiffany@disabled.social I can vouch for Garmin's quality, and they seem to be pretty good privacy-wise (better than Google and Samsung anyway)... Been beating the hell out of my Forerunner for years, and it's still going!

  • @Tiffany@disabled.social I have a kiddo who is extremely focused on privacy & I want to get a wearable for him, this is the only option he will accept: https://www.crowdsupply.com/protocentral/healthypi-move Can't vouch for it personally though as it's out of budget for us, and more DIY than what I want, I suspect. For myself & my husband, we have Garmins and we're very happy with them - I've found the Body Battery feature extremely useful for pacing etc.
