The more I think about it, actually owning something, whether it be media of some sort, self-hosted tech stuff, some random physical object, or really just anything that doesn't have any additional rental strings attached -- no matter how one acquired said item -- is one of the most cyberpunk (or maybe just plain punk) things one can do in today's society. Well, I am no in the process of removing a previous black mark from my cyberpunk/hacker membership card as I have now finally started watching Serial Experiments Lain nearly 30 years since it first aired. I've seen or read pretty much all the other seminal media in that particular genre, but never that one for some reason. I know, I know, you're all shocked, awed, and saddened that it has taken me this long. And let me say that it's not exactly an easy story to grok the first time...
