Well, I am no in the process of removing a previous black mark from my cyberpunk/hacker membership card as I have now finally started watching Serial Experiments Lain nearly 30 years since it first aired. I've seen or read pretty much all the other seminal media in that particular genre, but never that one for some reason. I know, I know, you're all shocked, awed, and saddened that it has taken me this long. And let me say that it's not exactly an easy story to grok the first time, so I'm really trying to pay attention and understand what it's trying to say in the time that was 1998. Understanding the time in which it was written and first aired is a pretty important bit of context to understanding the story, I think.
