That "How Mastodon Are You? Tick all that apply"-type poll has got tme thinking, because the only two things I ticked out of about 20 were "Flower posts" and "Mental health posts". But in case I sound ike that one old priest in the feral priest's hospital in Father Ted quavering "I really shouldn't be here", the "mental health posts" thing is actually the entire reason I'm here. I can't handle the design patterns and excessive sti...

Well I'm told Bulgaria won the Eurovision so that's nice. It is my fondest hope that this will be the title of France's entry next year. Though of course I have moved beyond this level. Goth the life? I'm gothing myself to DEATH

Today I bought a box of Peach Signature Magnums and they are about the size of a signature. Who would ever have thought we'd live to see the day when a Magnum was smaller than the crabbed little extremity I am forced to call a hand? I was compelled to eat a second one just to feel slightly sick It was very nice though, the golden outer casing really tastes of peach

On a less unsavoury note I have just found out that Die Haut's 1992 performance at the Berlin Tempodrom is now on the YouRethra! For years I have been forced to content myself with snippets of Blixa Bargeld and Anita Lane doing "Subterranean World" and "Johnny Guitar", but here you can see Lydia Lunch, Nick Cave, Kid Congo Powers and other luminaries accompanying Die Haut and there are also little interviews. Yes Blixa Bargeld does go into a crouch and start screaming at...

The cats have been very anatomically challenging this month. First Jack had a mysterious lump on his neck

So all that Eurovision bollocks has got so bad even I will probably be giving it a miss this year, and tbh the boycott is being made easy for us since we can now only get French TV here and their commentary sucks. I did watch 3 entry videos: the UK one (terrible), the French one (even worse) and some Romanian bird begging me to choke her (when I get round to it, mummy's busy)

Talking of things from my childhood that are eerier than I remembered, I had occasion to read the lyrics of "The Boys Are Back In Town" by Thin Lizzy today, and without the upbeat music they feel very ghostly. Who are these "wild-eyed boys that had been away"? It's almost impossible not to imagine them as ghosts that only the narrator can see, because he's approaching death himself. "The nights are getting warmer, it won't be long Won't be long 'til...

I'm watching a five-hour edition of the Tube called A Midsummer Night's Tube and it keeps having this advert for some old beer called Stones, and all it is is a Terry Gilliam-looking long shot of a pub at night - like, you're expecting to see Spiny Norman looming over its roof at any time - with a soundtrack of men muttering in a way that you can barely make out, until right at the end when there's the slogan: WHEREVER YOU MAY WANDER, THERE'S NO TASTE LIKE STONES I think it...

The long light evenings here have been getting me down something awful - it's the worst time of year to be alone at night - but I have found company in the form of this huge Massey Ferguson forked attachment, which has been sitting unattended for some time on a path between two fields. We have a lot in common, although I was never as useful
