  I did it - I put magnets on the kickboard and made a place to store a pack of loo rolls, or something else, in my tiny bathroom. #DIY

  @Uniflame@beige.party Just in case this helps you ever. With eyedrops - if you close your eyes, tip your head back (or lie down) and drop drops onto both eyes as close to the corners nearest your nose as possible, but dont worry too much, anywhere along your eyelid will work. Then when you're ready open both eyes and blink - you will get 80+% of the eyedrops in your eyes. That's better than a lot of people manage using the "recommended methods".

  #DIY This was the black cutting line for the LVT flooring in a fiddly area just inside the doorframe. And again after I removed it with some neat (cheap) gin. 😄 #SmallWins

  This morning, whilst swilling out my garden waste wheelie bin, I discovered that I had a young woodpigeon completely hidden in the brambles that are camouflaging the brick pile. I rarely see young woodpigeons - and this might be why. 🙂 #birds

  It seems very quiet outside this morning, apart from manmade traffic rumble, a plane and a train. A coal tit is calling now and again, and there is some sparrow chatter, but not much. I’ve only spotted 2 house martins and no swifts. There are no moths in the pond this morning, but plenty in the house. A dragonfly is patrolling the gardens.

  A hawk moth of some sort has joined me in my bedroom 🤦🏻 It doesnt want to be caught, and is currently hiding then flapping around wildly, then hiding again 🙄 I really dont want it to singe itself on my bedside light - the only halogen bulb left in the entire house. Perhaps I'll turn the light off, open the curtains, and hope I dont get more moths coming in than go out.

  As soon as the bathroom guys left today, I started painting. They lifted the towel ladder radiator off its brackets again so that I could get the wall done behind it. 😊 I'd like to get the ceilng all done, but I've just had to seal some new plaster so it will probably have to wait until the weekend. I'll get all the edges cut in now though.

  Yesterday I discovered that the electrician who installed a new “consumer unit” - to replace the original 1912 fuse box - modified it. So it hasn’t actually been legal for its entire life! (10 years). To make it worse, the bathroom electrician says he probably modified it because there was a problem he didn’t want to fix. So that’s something to look forward to 🙇🏻 *Adds him to the list of men who I have paid to do work and who have bodged things.* 😡

  This evening the temperature dropped, its about 17° or 18° now. So I spent a generous hour digging out a compost bn and moving it! I haven quite managed to do the whole thing, but I'm about 7/8 done! Hopefully I can finish the job tomorrow.

  This morning is a starling morning. They’ve arrived from who knows where exactly 🤷🏻, and taken over the gardens. A few have had a good splash in the birdbath, some have lined up along the fence, and they are providing the dominant soundtrack. I suspect flying ants are the cause of all this activity. Meanwhile the sparrows seem to be struggling to find any insects/aphids on the brambles this morning. #birds

  First look out of the kitchen window this morning revealed 2 goldfinches inspecting the knapweed. Hopefully they'll be back for its seeds once they've developed. 🤞

  Has everyone else’s freezer been struggling through the heat alert? I’ve been turning the setting up and up over the last few days, but the temp warning light has been on for longer and longer. Hopefully today it will get back to normal. 🤞❄️

  Good luck to everyone who is voting today. There are no local elections here, so I'm feeling a little left out. But I can confirm that Reform led councils are as useless as you might expect them to be. Raising the tax they said they'd lower, not finding any of the HUGE savings they were going to make, and falling out among themselves all the time. #JustSaying

  When my pantry was built, the electrician decided it needed a fridge-like light switch. It didnt. Light bulbs didn't like it., and nor did I. The light was often on unnecessarily. So when the switch died I had it replaced with a normal light switch. Yesterday I made a tiny wooden block to fill the gap in the doorframe where the switch used to be. See it? 😊

  I am on day 105* of painting my pantry door. Send help! Day 1 - sand back to knots in the wood that were never sealed properly first time, and seal Day 2 - reseal the knots. Remove door handles and latch, and the draught excluder strip from the bottom Day 3 - sand everything and paint with undercoat/primer Day 4 - sand everything and paint second coat of undercoat/ primer, and undercoat/primer doorframe Day 5 - sand everything and paint door and frame with gloss topcoat *slight exaggeration

  It's 8.45pm, cold and windy outside, and I just disturbed a robin havng a bath outside. Poor thing. It's very busy parenting during daylight hours, I'm sure it deserved a peaceful bath 😟
