Yesterday I discovered that the electrician who installed a new “consumer unit” - to replace the original 1912 fuse box - modified it. So it hasn’t actually been legal for its entire life! (10 years).
To make it worse, the bathroom electrician says he probably modified it because there was a problem he didn’t want to fix. So that’s something to look forward to 🙇🏻
*Adds him to the list of men who I have paid to do work and who have bodged things.* 😡

@Sarah111well@mas.to the lack of quality tradespeople and a totally ineffective regulator is one of the lessons we've learned the hard way. Protection from shoddy work is a privilege of the rich ehi can afford the best and lawyers to sue people who rip them off.

@Sarah111well@mas.to that’s so annoying :( I’m totally willing to pay people very fairly for their skills and energy, but having to be alert for scams at all times poisons the relationships with tradies.
