Dang, missed most of this week's #3GoodThings ... 1. Been getting decent sleep all week 2. Making slow, but steady, progress on my comics database 3. Lots of odd, little chores seem to have cropped up this week but I've managed to keep on top of all of them

They *should* feel unsafe. Every billionaire should feel unsafe. Every politician should feel unsafe. Every person who has an outsized influence on a large group of people should feel unsafe. If they feel safe, they do whatever the fuck they want, consequences be damned. They've clearly expressed no sense of empathy or compassion. It's only when they feel unsafe that they do the right thing that they should have done in the first place. Make them all feel unsafe. https://www.yahoo.com/...

Dark Horse Workers Union is calling for a rally in Milwaukie, OR against DH's union busting tactics this afternoon. (Although I'm not sure why they suggest you come cosplaying as your favorite hero, and then include an image of five villains from Marvel.) https://graphicpolicy.com/2026/08/02/dark-horse-workers-united-announces-a-rally-against-union-busting/ #comics

#3GoodThings Monday Morning Edition 1. Canadian holiday and several other coworkers on PTO, so it should be a very quiet day at work 2. Finally got a large backlog of data updates installed in my comic database; it had kept crapping out part-way through, I think, because of the extent of the updates 3. Finished all the chores I had set for the weekend, and they all went smoother than I was anticipating

Haven't needed to be on-camera for a meeting since Wednesday afternoon and don't have another one scheduled until next week Tuesday 3. Payday

I've been managing my current team at work for about 4 years now, and I think they're still surprised when I say things like, "I know that's not how we're supposed to do it, but all those extra steps are just bullshit approvals to make a couple people feel more important than they are. Just get it done and out the door, and I'll take the heat for bypassing the 'official' process if there is any."

RE: https://mastodon.nz/@pezmico/117007112381937094 Yes, being anti-racist will likely cause you to lose "friends" and possibly even family members. But it *is* that important.

Started to watch a video about someone who bought a VCR and old CRT TV because they were tired of seeing ads on streaming movies before the movie even started. They neglected to mention, though, how official VHS tapes ALWAYS STARTED WITH ADS FOR OTHER MOVIES FROM THE SAME DISTRIBUTOR. You literally had to fast forward through the first ten minutes of a tape to get past the all the ads. There are legit reasons to go old school with your home tech, but if you're making shit up like that, you...

I was having problems with the Digital Comics Museum site the other day, but it seems to be working smoothly now; I've been able to grab a number of good PD comics to include in my personal database 2. Surprise sketches in BOTH the graphic novels that arrived in the mail yesterday 3. Some bottles of distilled water got punctured yesterday and leaked into the closet, but I managed to catch it fairly quickly and the only damage was to some empty cardboard boxes

#3GoodThings Monday Morning Edition 1. Morning meeting was cancelled 2. I got a good chunk of work done on my comic database over the weekend; I think I'll be able to get even more functional use out of it than I'd been anticipating 3. I think the biggest expense I have between now and payday next week is maybe filling up the car with gas

#3goodThings 1. I realized that I believe this is the first year in the 10+ years we've been in this house that the foliage has grown high and robust enough to essentially create a wall of green around our back yard; I almost can't see any neighbors 2. Having to re-catalog my comics has made me more aware of many issues I didn't know I had (I've had several hundred gifted to me since I last had a decent comics database) 3. Fixing my music database made me realize I've had a...
