  my home broadband connection, which is supposed to be asymmetric 1000/300, suddenly has become a symmetric 1000/1000. No notice from the ISP and their site still has them showing only an asymmetric offering. really hoping this is a permanent upgrade and not just some configuration issue on their end.

  My ISP recently changed my static IP, and it seems to be in a range that was until recently used by a data centre. This is causing problems with certain sites flagging my IP as being non-residential and either throwing up more captchas or blocking entirely. Anyone know if there's a list of IP metadata providers that I can contact to get this updated?

  Weird networking thing I hope someone can answer: we pay for a static IPv4 from our ISP. Last night the gateway (Amazon eero) did an update and rebooted. Since then, our IP address as reported by IP detection sites was no longer the same (149.x.x.x vs 88.x.x.x). However, the reported WAN IP address by the gateway itself remains as 149.x.x.x, and it is set specifically to use that IP address as a static IP. How is this possible? 88.x.x.x isn't a CGNAT range so it isn't that. What could b...

  Does anyone have a texture pack for Twilight Princess that ports the textures over from the Wii U version? The existing 4K pack doesn't look right to me, I'd much rather play with the official Wii U textures.

  wanted to block a channel from being recommended on YouTube or showing up in Shorts, went to look up how. Turns out the only way to do this is to make your account a child's account and link it to an adult account which has control over it, and then block it there. Kinda ridiculous.

  In 2024, MPF (the graphical interface used to dump games for redump) was included in a disc bundled with Italian magazine, "Win Magazine". Since this disc also included a free game, it was itself eligible for addition to the redump database (redump.org/disc/133277/). So now you can dump games for redump entirely just by using a disc from the redump DB.

  shoutouts to whoever at Nintendo, who when working on the textures for the "Glinty Circular Disc" (which is a Japanese copy of Wave Race: Blue Storm), decided to accurately recreate the ringcode on the shiny side to exactly match what you would see if you looked at a real disc. You can tell it isn't scanned because the spacing of the text is off compared to a real disc, but the text is 100% accurate (barring upscaling artifacts that make some characters hard to read), meaning the...

  Cryptography challenge for anyone willing to undertake it: Wii U discs, much like GC/Wii prior, seem to use a non-standard scrambling algorithm for their raw sectors. So far we have been unable to break it. Two sectors are here: workupload.com/file/3v6vzgRYZHh When descrambled correctly, the first should simply read "WUP-P-AMKP-00-410EUR-0" followed by all zeroes, and the second should be all zeroes.
