Our late Sept/Early Oct holiday is booked and paid for. Staying in the UK again as we've had our one international flight this year in Jan when we went to Tromsø. An autumnal visit to the Cotswolds. Looking forward to it.

It's Saturday, lazy start to the day. Playing a little Skyrim AE ... again! However Skyrim is fun but Skyrim with 2000+ mods is... .... something else. I'm playing Gate To Sovengard collection with some extra of my own mods. (By own I mean both mods i always download and play with AND literally my own mods I've written) I've also some paid for creation patches that add new areas and quests. Really makes it a beautiful whole new game. Currently I'm avoiding the sun as,...

I had an internal interview at my company for a new project. My current project is rolling down and I need to find a new team to join. Was told a project was looking for a senior python developer so arranged a chat/interview with the project director and senior architect. Hmm... Not only is it NOT in my current office location and will need a slightly longer commute into busy Central London, more in the office than my current hybrid working and much more client facing.... ... they are also h...

I've been seeing a lot of adverts online advertising Fi. (short for Fiona I assumed) Turns out it was actually advertising F1 .. as in Formula One, And, as someone who used to work for McLaren, ..... D'OH !!!

I was tidying up my office today. #AuDHD style. I take everything off the shelves, sort into piles all over every surface, cover the floor, trip over things going in and out, get overwhelmed at the mess, wait for my impulsive #ADHD side to give way to my #Autistic side. Take piles of like items, all DVD's, all CD's etc, store them in boxes, move boxes to logical locations (Tools in workshop, dvd/blu rays down by media player, craft stuff to craft room etc) put books back on she...

So I have a day off work tomorrow and a day in London planned with a trip to the cinema at the end !! I'm pretty excited as I don't get to have a "me" day very often but despite knowing I have "A day in London" I actually have very little idea what to do !! I'll be mostly around the Southbank (my fave area and since I'm going to the BFI Imax later it seems appropriate) I plan to visit London Fossils and Crystals down from Wat...

Pre LLM limerick "I have a little computer, I think I'm going to sell it, For it doesn't do What I want it to Only what I tell it" Post LLM limerick "I have a little computer, I think I'm going to keep it, Because it takes prompts I type And though it feeds me tripe At least it generates something I can pass off as my own and I know it doesn't scan or follow the usual limerick layout but it says my input was the bestest idea ever a...

Am watching a documentary on Prime called "Woodlands dark and days bewitched" which is about folk horror (Witchfinder General, Wicker man, Psychomania et al) and I noticed a talking head on the commentary wearing a rather familiar t-shirt ;) A little promotion for @Richard_Littler and @scarfolk ;) They're now talking about "The Stone Tape". That scared the bejeezus out of me as a kid!!

@dwm@mastodon.social @losttourist@social.chatty.monster @cstross@wandering.shop @tek@freeradical.zone the same humans that breathe an atmosphere that contains rocket fuel, chemically burn food within their bodies for energy (not to mention breaking it down first with strong corrosive acids) and regularly consume known poisonous substances for fun.. no wonder aliens avoid us. 50% of the population being able to process Marmite is just the nail in the coffin IMHO!

@losttourist@social.chatty.monster @cstross@wandering.shop @tek@freeradical.zone I've been warning people for years. I have a theory. The fact that we've never been able to detect any extraterrestrial life out there is down to the theoretical "Great Filter" but I suspect rather than filtering out war-like species or species with a particular level of technology.. I propose that some technologically advanced species is destroying systems where the inhabitants have discovered Mar...
