So I have a day off work tomorrow and a day in London planned with a trip to the cinema at the end !! I&#39;m pretty excited as I don&#39;t get to have a &quot;me&quot; day very often but despite knowing I have &quot;A day in London&quot; I actually have very little idea what to do !! I&#39;ll be mostly around the Southbank (my fave area and since I&#39;m going to the BFI Imax later it seems appropriate) I plan to visit London Fossils and Crystals down from Waterloo. (cos I collect fossils and minerals!) but other than that I have several hours to kill. I don&#39;t even know where to eat :D hehe I don&#39;t want to just default to a cr*ppy high street burger from the usual &quot;Kentucky McKings&quot; etc ;) but I also don&#39;t want a full blown restaurant meal. Was thinking Giraffe or Wahaca for lunch. But I imagine overwhelm will be an issue so I&#39;ll need some space where I can sit, relax and watch the world go past. perhaps even I&#39;ll fit in a little retail therapy from the Bookshops and BFI store when I&#39;m there. However if anyone has ideas? let me know. #London #TouristInMyOwnCity

@PeteLittle deep-specialty shops hiding in cities are my ‘what else?’ favorites. A cuckoo clock shop had parts, including a bellows to replace one tattered by 75 years. My kid drags us to fabric & garment-district shops, like at the south end of Shepherd’s Bush. Somewhere reviewed well for a favorite dish, retro furniture, or some food I’ve never tried. Or just a couple second-hand shops along a canal. Or Settle into a chair after the rush, get a snack, and see what surprises you.

@PeteLittle last time I was round there, I went to the Tate Modern. Came out angry (useless bag checks/security theatre, so-called modern art that was just taking the piss, and so much noise). Restored myself with a huge falafel from All That Falafel on Long Lane, eaten in one of the little parks nearby.

@PeteLittle If you want a burger, Patty and Bun is king. Closest to Waterloo will be the one at Liverpool Street (opposite the station)

@PeteLittle This place has never let me down. Tons of choice. But can get a bit crowded 1230-1330. In the road behind BFI (1 minute). I’m a massive Levant fan and have had some superb burgers here. https://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/food-and-drink/southbank-centre-food-market/
