Didn’t do much writing this week or anything artistic. The last week and the next two are filled with various medical appointments, yearly events, and stress related to my wife’s troubles. With any luck I hope to do some word collage. Months ago I cut up all the words from last year’s campaign mail. About a years worth. I want to write. I want to do my verb novel. But I should wait until life settles a bit.

Julio Cortazar’s Hopscotch is quite the mindfuck. The ideal way to read it is perfect for ebook. Critics may be right that it’s up there with Ulysses. #reading

A question for gen x. When I was a kid in the seventies and early eighties there was this black tablet that when you lit it on fire expanded into an ash snake. Does anyone remember what they were called. UPDATE Thanks to those who responded. Magic snakes or black snakes seems right. I’m thrilled I wasn’t going through a Mandela Affect 😝 Sometimes I drive or walk around the city and can still smell those snakes. Major sensory memory going on

A short and nifty animated vid about James Joyce's life and work. It's all standard, common knowledge but calling him the starter of Stream-of-Consciousness has been argued. It has been recorded that Gertrude Stein and Virginia Woolf are the forebearers of SOC. Since both women were in Paris during the Modernist expat period as Joyce was, it is possible he might have been influenced by them. it would explain why Stein didn't care for Joyce much. It would also make sen...

"‘Betrayed’: Families are dealing with dashed hopes after pivot on autism treatment" "Joyce says 5-year-old Jose Morales-Ortiz started taking leucovorin last year. The child was nonverbal before treatment, he said, but slowly improved. Joyce attributes that to the drug and said Jose can now say eight words." I would attribute this more to development than a drug. A lot of autistic kids learned to speak late in years. Also, early intervention can help a child...

The Peoples Manifesto For Writing Creative Fiction The Peoples Manifesto For Writing Creative Fiction Capitalism has colonized fiction. From the major publishers to the small press, all seek to mimic what characters and structures written before to make money. This is a dead cycle. Writers must counter structured and rigid corporate fiction by writing through improvisation. Improvisation is creativity. Confronting nothingness leads to improvisation which taps into the subconsciousness which lea...
