  Another British leftist misjudgement is arguing with gammon types and using the point that "Well, we fought against fascism in the Second World War!" Honestly, these people don't give a shit, because they don't perceive it that way; they almost always talk about fighting "Germany," not "Nazi Germany." They're actually quite alright with fascism, as long as it's wrapped in the Butcher's Apron.

  I always liked that scene in Amelie where it describes one of the favourite things of a character (struggling writer Hipolito I think?) as witnessing bullfighters getting gored by bulls on television - I think I've just developed a similar weird enjoyment in watching robots trip and fall; I don't know why, it just gets me every time.
