The Rothbury Estate is an incredible opportunity for our Wildlife Trust to secure land for wildlife, in the UK, which is one of the most nature depleted countries in the world. But #Northumberland here in the north east is a great location and perfect site for them to protect and boost it (more info on their site). This month, donations will be doubled via this campaign: https://www.wildlifetrusts.org/appeals/rothbury-estate-match-appeal-august-2026 #wildlife #donation

Huge nurdle (plastic pellet) pollution spill on the north east coast. Please if you’re in the Whitley Bay, Tynemouth, North Shields, Roker area (spotted down there too) or close by, keep an eye out for volunteer groups, grab your sieves and buckets and help get this rubbish out. Apparently this week is key to get it cleared before it poses even more risk to our local marine life. #NorthEast #Newcastle #NorthShields https://www.instagram.com/reel/DbSX6xytPmJ/?igsh=ZWU4MGM3eTFiM3p3

Just been to see the latest and last in the Jackass franchise. As daft as it ever was, stupid and ridiculous. It is never not funny to watch a man get knocked on his arse by a giant hand as he walks down a corridor. End of an era - I l was in my early 20s when I started watching this madness on MTV. Feel like I’ve grown up with it in a way. The ‘one that MTV didn’t let them air’ was for a very good reason, crazy they got to show it really. Do not try this at home 😉 #cinema #Jackass #comedy

I’m not a massive football fan but it’s great to see the massive boycotts to the stupid, greedy idea by corrupt FIFA to try and sell off stakes in events. Infantino came up with this idea after becoming friends with Tr*mp? And there are family connections that will make money for them too? What a bloody surprise. Grifters gonna grift.

This has to be one of the worst stories I’ve ever read. There has to be more governance and oversight of funeral homes after this. What an utter scumbag. Can’t even begin to imagine what the families feel. And the impact on those police officers who found everything 😞 https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/jul/31/hull-funeral-director-robert-bush-jailed

Late to the party but I’ve just seen this response from Simon Helberg (Wolowitz from Big Bang Theory) after the Artemis II toilet issues. Love it. #comedy #TheBigBangTheory #ArtemisII #SpacePlumber

RE: https://glammr.us/@jessamyn/116494289713589586 “That isn’t just a good story about making tools or reacting to fatigue over paying for tools, or turning ownership of content into a platform for building your own tools. It’s a story about using community to build power. That’s what it takes for things to change — value destruction in extortionate categories that billion-dollar companies care about, in service of goals that independent creators care about”

Had a lovely trip out today to Dunstanburgh Castle. Northumberland coastline as stunning as ever, and it was a beautifully sunny day. Got to watch cliff-nesting kittiwakes and swallows diving through the sky, waves crashing on the rocks, and giant bumblebees. Bought some cute socks with sheep on at the English Heritage gift shop 🐑 #UKwildlife #nature #NationalTrust #castle #Northumberland

Please enjoy this Belgian car number plate I spotted today in Newcastle; a very niche reference to a TV advert for Mazda in the early 2000s. I’m sure there are a few people, me included, who didn’t realise this combo would be possible in Belgian plates. Must be worth a fortune amongst Mazda fans? #MazdaMX5 #cars

If you’re in the north east (England) and love comedy, check out the Customs House in South Shields and Jason Cook’s comedy club - this month it’s tonight and tomorrow night 1st/2nd May. Always brilliant fun and a mix of comedians, good value! #UKcomedy #comedy https://www.customshouse.co.uk

Advice from RSPCA: Most hedgehogs have their babies in the summer, but you may start to spot early arrivals now. If a hoglet is larger than an apple, they're usually able to fend for themselves, but here's what to look out for. https://www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/wildlife/hedgehogs/injured #wildlife #hedgehogs

RE: https://mastodon.social/@fesshole/116159545798045555 I have the same issue with another provider, as the .com version of an email seems to route to mine. I have told the provider, to no avail. I occasionally get holiday bookings and all sorts for the other person who is in the USA. But I’m not an arsehole so I leave it be, and just delete the email without interfering in their life.

It’s a brilliant, weird, odd little show. I was going to watch because Michael Palin is in it, and then I saw the rest of the cast and watched it immediately. Mackenzie Crook plays a fantastic part, if you’ve worked in an office you’ve definitely met one like that 😂 “Have you been on your break yet?” #Comedy #UKcomedy https://fed.brid.gy/r/https://metro.co.uk/2026/03/18/mackenzie-crook-addresses-small-prophets-future-incredible-bbc-comedy-scores-7-700-000-views-27511383/

Watching the astronauts wipe away tears and hug each other as they name one of the features on the moon after Commander Wiseman’s late wife, Carroll. Such a sweet thing to do. #Artemis2 #ArtemisII

This morning’s Wikipedia #history rabbit hole: reading about the Darién gap, which I’ve always been fascinated by (and recently highlighted in #Pluribus) I learned about the Kingdom of Scotland’s mad plan ‘the Darien scheme’ (woefully unaware of the climate and tropical diseases) which sought to colonise that area in 1698. It killed almost all the settlers, nearly bankrupted the country, and highly influenced them signing the Acts of Union that led to Great Britain. https://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
