The bots and botting. Lots of scanners and poking and prodding, mostly trying to deface wordpress and log4j that we do not run. Such a sad world, where the webserver gets 1M/day of useless requests. Think of the energy and logspace that could be saved! #nginx #counterabuse

New app! It's called GoUp (pronounce: goop) Not sure if I'll release it, but it's a combination of (single binary, docker-k8s native) blackbox prober and notification/incident management written in Go with a SPA-webapp and an OpenAPI REST surface.

I wrote a little something about WebPKI and client side certificates at IPng: https://ipng.ch/s/articles/2026/06/27/case-study-ipngs-client-certificates/ In this article I describe an AuthZ sidecar to nginx that handles ~150K req/s on one machine. They protect (hopefully) my internal websites from Bad People and Big Tech scrapers.

I am making progress towards v1.0.0 release of vpp-evpn; now including auto-failover based on a health check consensus, and real time traffic- and health reporting into the frontend. I'm going to let this soak for a while, as you can see, it's currently carrying a gig of traffic on one victim^W canary eVPN.

I found some non-hyperscaler disks! 26x18TB will become our next RustFS (minio replacement) S3 tanks (2x12x18TB per node). Wish me luck!

Claude created grafana dashboards for my VPP Maglev project. It wasn&#39;t precisely ... efficient at it, but together we stumbled through it and it was still a fair bit faster than rolling them by hand.

Here&#39;s what I&#39;m doing this week - it&#39;s a bit of a before-and-midway picture. There are two more midways before I can show the after. I will update this thread as we go along. This picture was the situation before we started: Nikhef, Qupra and EUNetworks are in use, with a WDM circuit that happens to span through Gyrocenter, Equinix AM7 and Iron Mountain in Amsterdam. #selfhosting for fun
