It's a holiday weekend so I'm reading a lot! #BookReview (1/2) *Wooing the Witch Queen* by Stephanie Burgis -- I read this book immediately after inhaling a book I loved, so I was worried about my ability to get into something different. Then, a mere two chapters in, I knew exactly what kind of book I was in for and that I'd love it. And I absolutely did. Here are some of the reasons: Mistaken identity is a delightful trope, employed expertly here.

#BookReview time! THE RIVER HAS ROOTS by Amal El-Mohtar -- What a lovely, beautiful, sweet story! A tale about grammar and magic and sisterly love and music and fairyland and romantic love -- so many elements I adore, woven together smoothly and skillfully. It's very short, so don't go in expecting a long, twisty tale. And there's some poetic ground-laying setup to start, but once the plot kicked in, it really swept me up in the current! -- 4 stars

#BookReview DEMON DAUGHTER by Lois McMaster Bujold -- Oh my heart! I was intrigued by the title, &amp; I wasn&#39;t let down. I always enjoy when parts are told from Nikys&#39;s perspective. Here I got both that &amp; the perspective of the new character in this story, who happens to be a 6-yo girl. I have no real maternal instincts to speak of, but this story still managed to warm the cockles of my cold heart. And any story that features Blessed Iroki, even briefly, is a winner...
