  Man, I think the love theme in the Overture to Candide is one of my favorite bits of writing Bernstein ever did. It happens at ~1:20 in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=422-yb8TXj8 but do yourself a favor and watch the whole thing, it's only around 4 min. long. and even if the sound and video aren't quite synced watching Bernstein conduct is always a joy. #Candide #Berstein #ClassicalMusic

  For reasons having to do with them being shitty about something involving one of my kids, I'm not really interacting with my parents beyond holidays\birthdays right now. My sister just sent all of us brothers a text that was like "I know some of you don't really talk to Mom and Dad, but I need to tell you that..." and then cut off on my screen. the rest of it was basically "they are getting old". Which, yeah they're in their 80s.
