  I had these three leeks I got at the grocery. I used some of them, and only had part of the white ends in the crisper box in the fridge. They kept putting out a little new growth at the cut ends, so, eventually, when I hadn’t eaten them, I stuck them in a container. Nothing more than three a-few-inches-long stubs. Well, one of them has survived, and the seed head is about to open. I am going to save the seeds, and start leeks early next spring #gardening #LifeFindsAWay

  Public library ebooks are basically a thing of the past. Libby is bleeding the libraries to death, sucking tax money straight to private equity. (KKR owns it). For that cost, you get very little, beyond hockey-playing-vampire romance novels and other dumb bestsellers. If your experience with Libby is still good: 1) You live in one of the few remaining cities in the US with a well-funded library 2) It won’t last. Libby is a parasite that’s indifferent to its host’s long-term survival 🧵

  Fear is itself traumatic, because you rehearse, fantasize, and dream what you fear, and the unconscious is bad at knowing the difference between reality, fantasy, and dreams—except possibly in vividness. It’s all experience. You can certainly experience things that have never happened to you, over and over. Just like you can experience what has happened, over and over, in memory and imagination and dreams. The relationship between experience and reality is pretty vague.
