Interesting watching people just getting into Ghost in the Shell going, &quot;Hey wait, this writing&#39;s kinda fash&quot; Like, yeah, Masamune Shirow is a bit of a nationalist and his works are always about cops beating the shit out of people to protect the state. GitS is set in a future specifically constructed to make Japan into a superpower (they&#39;re the only nation with a counter for nuclear weapons) and Motoko opens the first episode of the first season of Stand Alone...

I think people should watch more movies that suck. I&#39;m sick of people saying things like, &quot;It&#39;s the worst movie I&#39;ve ever seen&quot; about, like, the Matrix sequels or the latest bland-but-passable action movie. Legally you should have to watch a Coleman Francis movie before you&#39;re allowed to have an opinion about how bad a movie is.
