I just feel like being taken in to a qualified repair shop, disassembled by a team of experts, and having worn-out parts replaced by NOS or modern equivalents while manufacturing defects are replaced by improved designs, and then reassembled with care would fix me.

Watching _Blazing Saddles_ again and I've said this before but it's still true. You _could not_ make this movie today. Movies take _months_ to make, there's only like six hours left in the day out in Hollywood? You couldn't even finish doing all the boring preliminary paperwork stuff in only six hours.

Me: You know, I have an hour left in the day, what's a nice easy story I could complete in that? Oh, how about this old tech-debt one, where we used to have two roles that would get instruction handbooks assigned to them, and now we only have the one role? Previous Developer: [ Has somehow left behind a fractal labyrinth of every bad coding pattern so intense that the digital minotaur is at the _entrance...

OK, Previous Developer, let's see what daftness you have for me here. Stored procedure GETMETRICSBYDATERANGE taking parameters of a START_DATE and END_DATE, all right, that looks okay. Stored procedure GETMETRICSBYRANGE taking parameters of a START_DATE and END_DATE. All right, why are you doing this to me?

Well, the upcoming CGI 'Animal Farm' may look dire, but at least I bet the official web site's bonus-content farm simulator management game is going to be excellent.
