RE: https://mstdn.ca/@dbattistella/117040206331760983 I remain firmly convinced that *most* people should not be allowed to drive. 😂

My wife & kids are away (the kids at camp, my wife for a conference). As such, I have turned the living room into a proper bike shop. Currently 4 bikes in various states of repair - my wife's road bike, my father-in-law's brand new bike, the 9yo's new bike, and a folding bike. I have a new cassette for my mid-tail bike, too, but I think I'll order new tires first before I replace it. #BikeTooter

That time in 2014 when I won a chicken coop in a raffle, but there were no ziptrucks available and it didn't fit in my friend's car - so I biked it home. I just happened to be wearing a #Seattle #DisasterReliefTrials t-shirt at the time. #CargoBike #CarryShitOlympics

RE: https://social.ridetrans.it/@Andres4NY/113626681357898120 Sadly I've only made 2 of them for the house (I need to buy more PC fans), but I still use these filters. Here's why. Currently, the outside AQI in Forest Park near my house is 235 ("unhealthy for living creatures", if memory serves). #CRBox

The blinds are up and the windows are open. Hopefully one of the neighbors walking by sees my 9yo and I standing in the dining room, tshirts halfway up, seeing who can make the loudest armpit fart sounds.

I like how you respond to someone's email, and gmail is like " Gmail has detected that this message is likely 550-5.7.1 unsolicited mail. To reduce the amount of spam sent to Gmail, this 550-5.7.1 message has been blocked. For more information," and then a link basically telling you to go fuck yourself.

I'm kind of jealous that my kids get to go to sleepaway camp, especially afterwards when they come home and talk about it. When I was the 14yo's age, I spent my summers watching shitty reruns on TV. Basic over-the-air-with-like-7-channels TV; we didn't have cable. I would often go to a friend's house (who had cable) to watch MTV. It was incredibly boring.

Here's a basic desktop feature that should exist that I've never seen: a Do-Not-Disturb-while-typing. Like, I'm mid-fucking-thought (and sentence) in this email and suddenly I get a message like "hey do you want me to pick up falafel on the way home?" Like, yeah, I want to see that message, but I want it delayed by 60 seconds so I can finish my thought/sentence before I start thinking about yummy food!

Android remains fucking awful. I originally hated Android because I thought the UI/UX sucked. Admittedly that has improved in the past 2 decades, but since then my most frequent problem is "This is running some random Android version that I can't upgrade or change [because hardware locking & OEMs' crappy driver practices] , so I can't do this thing I need to do [like backing up to a webdav mount, or running some app that's built for newer android, or or or..]"

I'm jealous of all the parents whose kids grew up pre-covid. Not only did they miss out on the hell of homeschooling, they also caught colds and had normal recovery cycles. Covid hadn't fucked up everyone's immune system yet. I remember those days too - when the 14yo entered preschool, we were constantly getting sick. But it was normal sick - at most, a week of sniffles. Now everything lingers fucking forever.

My wife's not on mastodon, but when she's bored she will occasionally read my toots* and boosts. I've boosted lots of @DavidZinn posts, which she has enjoyed enough to (unbeknownst to me) purchase his book. * which is why I'm ALWAYS on my best behavior. 😏
