A little flare and colour, courtesy of the Tamron 28-50mm without a hood to shield the sun. Ok, a *lot* of flare and colour. Sometimes taming the beast is not the point. #photography #LensFlare

#3GoodThings - got my company bank account unlocked and managed to control my temper on the phone (locked bc *they* emailed the wrong address....) - remote shutter relase cable arrived yesterday, a cheap $11 thing. It was broken on arrival but I fixed it. - after about 16 months I decided to print something and of course the print heads are clogged. New ink arrived, ink flushed (didn't use a third of a tank/2000 pages worth, despite the warning), all film photos printed and one of the bri...

Yay. I took a risk with 3 Russian cameras sold as "Parts only, untested", with no views of the lens internals. I had prepared mentally to take a look and put them in the bin if they were unsalvageable. Turns out 2 are in pretty good condition optically and mechanically, with the other having some fine scratches on the front lens that I doubt will show in photos. No haze or fungus, little dust. I did have to dismantle the latter as the focus was stuck in dried up grease. Wo...

Spotted this moth during the week. I am led to believe it is an Euproctis but I can't confirm an exact species, possibly melanosoma (since it is in Tasmania). #photography #nature #moth #VintageLens #macro

RE: https://photog.social/@0xThylacine/116611654625955539 Super lucky to find this lens at a tip shop. It's become one of my favourite macro lenses since it can do 1:1 magnification, with just a teleconverter, at 0.85m. It's great because insects/small things will often fly/scamble away if I get too close with other macro lenses*. Whereas here I had to zoom out a bit to get more tree in the photos. Exhibit A: testing a Jupiter-8 yesterday, I had to leave the camera running in i...

Some bright colours and soft focus to ease into the weekend. Really liking the soft rendering of this lens. What has mastodon done to me lol, I was always the f/8 guy before. Now? Well, anything goes. :) #photography #BloomScrolling #VintageLens #macro #autumn

Of course I will use any excuse to take photos of autumn maple tree leaves, the red veins against the fading green to red leaves is a glorious deluge of colour. Testing out a new lens last week, thanks to flatmate for finding it at a local market. ๐ท Tamron f/2.8 135mm #photography #autumn #leaves #colour ##VintageLens

Multi-layered clouds at sunset. Liked the shapes, contrasts, variance in cloud types at different layers, the golden light against the stark white and dark grey. Trialling placing the lens info at lower left in the image (for those people interested in these things, and as a reminder to future self). The aperture info isn't recorded in exif data for manual lenses. #photography #clouds #sunset #VintageLens

So after getting my first leech bite, guess which tiny creatures I neglected to capture on the camera sensor? I did get some ok pics of moss, fungi and lichen (pics to come), but the wriggly lil blood suckers will have to wait till next time.

Moss, fungi and lichen (and leeches) abound in the Myrtle Forest, Collinsvale. There's a shelter about 200m from the carpark. We didn't make it that far. Just too much to see in the macro view. Edit: typo. #photography #nature #moss #lichen #fungi #vintagelens #Mosstodon
