@Lone@climatejustice.social Welcome to the Fediverse and climatejustice.social. This network is quite different than others, so take your time. If you have any questions or need help you can always contact me. I'll add the #introduction hashtag here, so more people see your post. Generally hashtags are more important here than elsewhere (especially in the beginning) as there is no algorithm to fill your feed or add your posts to other people's feeds.

@Lone@climatejustice.social Some advice. Fill in your bio with more info. Follow hashtags like #3goodthings or any other nice or interesting hashtags you see. Follow people and use the hashtags yourself. It's a very nice world out here! Welcome!

@Lone@climatejustice.social Hello and welcome! Most of us are friendly and good people. A few are morons, ignore them. Remember, writing toots/messages, following others and re-tooting other peoples toots is the way to find your community here. And, your toot reached my chaislongue in the shade of a garden in the middle of Sweden.

@Lone@climatejustice.social Hi and welcome. Mastodon/Fedi is pretty much like other social media platforms except driven by hashtags instead of algorithms, and we don’t play the “follow” game as fiercely — although it will help you to get your feet wet by following those whose content suits you. We encourage using alt text descriptions on photos & art posted, and boosting/liking posts you enjoy. #HashtagGames, #ThreeGoodThings, #bloomscrolling are popular and good mood elevators. Enjoy!

@Lone@climatejustice.social mastotags is a tool to find what hashtags are popular for ideas, topics… But if you have a new idea, give it a hashtag you like :)) https://rstockm.github.io/mastotags/

@Lone@climatejustice.social Welcome! What everyone else said: Use the hashtags to find stuff. Set up custom filters (again, use the hashtags) to not see the bad stuff or stuff you're not interested in. Follow people that look interesting. Block people who seem like morons, and don't feel bad about blocking them. Have fun! 😄
