@bert_hubert@fosstodon.org I want to see the same in Germany. The USA is absolutely not reliable anymore and hence it’s time to move (at least) the government IT away from US-Companies. There are great open source solutions which could benefit from government funding and it’s cheaper than paying for proprietary software, which does not benefit the public good.

@bert_hubert@fosstodon.org For a few years, I worked for Philips Semiconductor in SiV (in the US) and it was such a privilege. It was sad to watch that division fold itself, and I'd love to see it make a comeback, with or without any US people like me.

@bert_hubert@fosstodon.org I'm in Canada and this is something that we here need to take very urgent action on. There's a non-zero chance of being invaded by the US (10% maybe higher) and if our communications systems can be easily surveilled or shut off by US tech companies, it would be devastating for us.
