i've seen so many extensive, well-researched, high-effort youtube video essays that nevertheless end up at bizarre conclusions to their analyses or repeatedly present nonsensical and implausible explanations for things, purely due to the extremely hard-working and devoted video creator simply not having any common sense or experience whatsoever

this is probably a superset of the whole "type of guy who really loves a specific video game and wants to analyze why something was left out of the video game but he doesn't have the perspective to see that if you asked the developers, it was purely due to external, quite uninteresting reasons like cost and time pressures, so he has to invent a whole new set of theories that have the advantage of drawing on the information he is actually interested in and also being completely wrong"
