I need to formalize my personal hotel ratings. But generally my perfect room has:
- A decent coffee machine with actual cups/mugs and milk or creamer.
- Complimentary umbrellas (in places it rains)
- A place for two people to sit and eat take out
- windows that open
- a 24 hour front desk with competent staff.
- fits my not-luxurious budget.
Best hotel on this scale so far was the Sora Niwa in Kyoto (the regular side, they also offer a 5 star hotel within a hotel that was out of my budget)

It’s notable that that room was tiny, and still pretty much perfect. They even had a laundry room in the basement. The hotel I’m in now has the coffee maker and a window that opens. At least the lobby has a decent spot to sit.

@Apiary@mastodon.social I used to play a game of “what’s the most expensive bath tub at a hotel” and definitely sent a hotel a message that I was going to take their $7k tub with me. They said I was welcome to try. 😅
