@SallyStrange great, freeing up electricity for AI... Shame the mining mostly went to ASICs AIUI, if they were still using GPUs that could free up a ton of good hardware, instead it's all gonna be e-waste now...

@SallyStrange “There is no organic use case reason for Bitcoin to slow or stop its descent” - Michael Burry. Exactly. Gold is needed for many industrial purposes, same with silver and all other precious metals. Bitcoin is just a greater fool scheme and if enough fools realize it, it will collapse to zero.

@SallyStrange "According to Coindesk, the average cost to mine one Bitcoin is currently around $87,000 — far higher than its current going rate, making it an extremely unprofitable proposition." It's a broken concept. Crypto-coins are not currencies but systems for speculators & criminals.

@SallyStrange The notion that much 'work' and 'profit made' in the Capitalist system is just about moving money as numbers around. There is no work done. There is no sustained investment in the company whose shares you briefly own. Yet the poor have to grind themselves into the ground for paltry sums.

@SallyStrange Bitcoin-specific ASICs absolutely destroyed the home mining side gig back in the day. And given that they're specifically built for "crypto-bingo" instead of being general-use, those gigantic rigs are effectively becoming e-waste

@SallyStrange At least after the great Tulip Bulb collapse of 1637, you could still have a nice garden. Bitcoin has never been a solid investment, or a viable use of energy resources. The only thing left now is a bunch of pissed off international drug dealers.

@SallyStrange I use internet currency. Called the pound I rarely see one in the flesh so my money like bitcoin, backed by something tangible. Doesn’t change vale dramatically every other day and hard to steal

@SallyStrange seen it before, both the plunge and the reports about the end of bitcoin. It’s still here.
