Did you know that #systemd already has `emailAddress`, `realName`, and `location` fields? but they where never meant for home users, only enterprise workflows, so adding `birthDate field` isn't really much work, and you could see why systemd doesn't consider that bloat
And this is exactly why systemd is bloated because it doesn't consider lots of things to be bloat in the first place
It's never a good idea to rely on software that serves corporations best interests, because corporations care about profit not principles, #FOSS principles.

@levi I’m not sure those fields really support any real corporate use case either. Most corporations are going to have some other more centralized system to track that kind of information, like LDAP/Active Directory/Exchange/etc. It makes no sense for each computer to have that info entered separately in a corporate environment.

@levi this is kind of a nonsense complaint though, particularly when you consider that the GECOS field is traditionally divided into real name, phone number, and office location — but I don’t see anyone complaining that passwd is bloated and serves corporate interests. People just like to whine about systemd.
