(who has probably gotten this a bunch by now) and anyone else who checks manually:
Tap and hold on the App Store icon, drag down to Updates, release.
Now, you still have to pull to refresh, but prior to 26.4 you had to tap/hold/release, pull to refresh, scroll past account info.
So, an improvement in number of taps to task.
