You couldn't pay me to care about someone's status with the government. That shit is completely fake and not interesting

@InternetEh I would also love it if the media stopped referring to people as 'illegals'

@InternetEh nonono, look. They're here illegally, so George Soros gives them a salary higher than the average AND a free house, but also they're broke and homeless and have to work the worst jobs, but they're also lazy and woke and and

@InternetEh I know it's silly, but I absolutely know people that get upset over expired tags or any other "infraction". They're the same people who spent all their time in school finding things to tell the teacher.

@InternetEh Honestly, I could understand their point of view if they were at least consistent. "Hard on crime" except for the pardons of actually guilty (but rich) criminal fraudsters. "The law matters" except when my politicians are violating the law. "The constitution is important" with the same exceptions. They care about legality only as far as they've been told to, otherwise it's considered a bureaucratic impediment. I think it's why right wingers are so successful lately. The left tends to have no qualms eating their own in purity spirals for almost nothing, while the modern right is basically immune to cognitive dissonance and has no trouble uniting behind somebody (even if they are the opposite of what they say their ethics demand), changing their own values to fit any new ones on a whim. Whatever problems the right has, they are easy to unite, trivial to rally, and impossible to sway otherwise in terms of logic and reason.

@InternetEh I, in fact, get way more pissed about out of date tags, because that means someone is failing to pay their vehicle taxes. Undocumented immigrants, it is well documented, pay well more than their fair share of taxes.

@InternetEh mhm "they're here illegally" afaik basically means that certain people (cops, wannabe cop civilians) will hurt the person in question if they find out about their presence in general "illegal" means in material consequences basically "cops will hurt you if you do it" i like to ground out things like this in this way, as in what actually happens. then they stop being things that possess us and stop our figuring-things-out processes. like if someone says "that's illegal" instead of being like "oh no it's Bad avoid avoid avoid" we can be like "okay so cops are a potential threat to consider if you do that thing, noted". no semantic stopsigns 🐱 (crimes that have fines and stuff still ground out in violence, cuz how else are they gonna force you to pay?)

@InternetEh I feel like we don't apply words like "bossy" and "tattle-tale" enough to adults
