Just heard that the author of xv (John Bradley) has died.
I never knew John but I have fond memories of using xv back in the day. And it's worth celebrating the excellent web design of the xv homepage (last modified in 2024): https://xv.trilon.com/

@d6 My first job out of school was with the U Penn computer science department. John was one of the people who interviewed me for that job, spring 1990.

@d6 2024 might have been when I last used xv. Really nice once, but for viewing feh is now my choice. For a while after that I only used it for fast image cropping

@d6 I still use xv. It is perfect for having a background on my X display which scales and tiles to fill the screen, and changes every 5 minutes.
