@hsza@social.tudbut.de @Elizafox@social.treehouse.systems It doesn't have to be gatekept at all. Just the creator, the person who did pretty much all of the work, should be fairly compensated for said work.
Of course that is only if the work or replicas of it get monetized in some way. If the creator chooses to put it out for free. As long as there's no economics involved the question of how to handle them doesn't apply.

@hsza@social.tudbut.de @Elizafox@social.treehouse.systems ...wait actually the concept/idea still kinda applies with attribution and recognition. Taking someone else's work and presenting it as your own is definitely a massive dick move regardless of whether money is involved.
