In most walks of life, changing your opinion when you learn more information about a subject, is seen as reasonable and being open minded.
In British politics it is a "U-TURN!!!" and must be ridiculed and scorned.
It's not healthy. It's just lazy rage bait journalism.

@MartinW it's part of our adversarial system. Party 1 proposes something, Party 2 opposes it. If Party 1 changes it's mind that leaves Party 2 in the tricky position of seeming to agree with Party 1. Can't do that so scream U-turn and try to find some inconsequential detail to continue arguing about. Such adversarial politics should have ended centuries ago but we like our 'traditions' even when they are harmful.
