Last Saturday, I ran the Vuurtorentrail on the island of Ameland. As expected, it was another tough edition with lots of loose sand, dunes, beach, and wading through water and mud.
My body was basically done with it after 25km, but my ego wasn't :-). So I battled through it and eventually made it to the finish line.
It was the first time in ages that I felt like I had thoroughly earned that medal.

@Johan_Barelds congrats!! This looks like a particularly tough trail ... for me running in sand always feels like glue pulling down my shoes, almost double the effort! Enjoy the well deserved rest!!

@Johan_Barelds I once visited Frazer island in Australia and weeks later I found grains of sand in plases I was sure I had washed 2-3 times already clothing, camera, hair etc. So enjoy the "souvenirs" the coming weeks ;) oh and well done on the run \o/
