Do you know of any projects, groups or communities that care about digital sustainability, keeping older computers working, maintaining legacy software, getting off the merry-go-round of continually needing to have the latest or just wanting to support the GNU fundamental freedom of being able to study and change a program in source code form? If so, please share links or info. #AskFedi #RightToRepair #retrocomputing #permacomputing #FreeSoftware #FOSS #sustainabililty #IndieWeb

@dff@fosstodon.org in France there is the @ChatonsOrg@framapiaf.org collective and framasoft in general. Its more about governance but for me it's intricate with sustainability

@dff@fosstodon.org Very local but Free Greek Arkansas in Fayetteville, https://www.freegeekarkansas.org/ will take in almost anything with a power cord, resells what they can and recycles what they can't. Great deals on used computers with Windows, MacOS and especially #Linux #Mint. For US$60 they set up our aging laptop to dual boot Windows/Mint AND changed from spinny hard drive to SDD.
