Sure, but all the societal problems we’re having are a product of adults using social media. We don’t talk about that because we resist self-reflection, and social platforms drive a large part of today’s economy. We could eliminate content algorithms, though.

@bretcarmichael@mastodon.social – In defense: whenever a subset of adults is causing harm (including where lack of self-reflection is a factor), it seems sensible to protect children from them. But I'm opposed to the method. Protection is best achieved by education: teaching children what social media is, how networks and requests work, what others can know about you when you use it, techniques for influence, scams, et cetera. I don't see any governments spreading the word they're prioritizing that.
