Here's my analysis of reviews produced for #chi2023 and the review process in phase 1. tl/dr better reviews approach 1000 words, and 1/3 of papers are not producing reviews, 2/3 are not producing enough (!)

@drmaxlwilson What do you mean with "1/3 of papers are not producing reviews"? The authors taken together don't submit at least 3-4 reviews?

@drmaxlwilson i'd love to know what reviewers think their job is… i tend to approach it as raise ~only the major issues that need to be addressed for the paper to be published, so that authors can try to address them… i'm one of those 8 review (but short, probably the 400 word average person). what are people doing with 1000 words? every once in a while i get a long review that concludes with a long list of all the typos in the paper, and … i don't think i'm going to be doing that! haha.
