Exciting data summary from #chi2023 papers chair Julie Williamson to help interpret where your round 1 recommendations put you in relation to the whole set. Remember: Accept was not one of the threshold outcomes. Also: you dont have to make suggested changes, and can rebut issues. https://chi2023.acm.org/2022/11/09/chi-2023-quick-look-at-how-to-interpret-your-reviews/

I run a meme-of-the-week open challenge for students to submit a meme that’s relevant to the weeks learning outcomes of my classes. Makes Mondays 5pm classes more fun. This got submitted this week… 🙃

Im super pleased to have just submitted a big grant proposal, with @Anna after a few months of awesome collaborative preparation. I also obviously hope it is also successful. But that seems an aside right now. 🎉🍻

Led by @CSchneegass, our #MobileHCI2023 workshop on Cognitive Personal Informatics has been accepted! Look out for a cfp coming next week - research about what wearables will track about our cognitive activity. For now you can read more here on the topic https://medium.com/@cogpi/cognitive-personal-informatics-4f86910624bc #cogpi

@mjskay interesting. I was told last years guidance told people that 8000 was the minimum that would be accepted. But thanks for the feedback

@andresmh and it looks like you were right :)

@andresmh yeah. But we have already gone past the normal growth level, ahead of the deadline. In terms of abstracts at least. We’ll see in terms of actual papers next week I guess.

@mjskay @chi it was introduced a couple of years ago after some people produced 30page+ response documents that reviewers and ACs complained about. What we want is the reasoning. And a track change version. Not a page of discussion about every change. It’s workload management. There was options for managing lengths limits and workloads I guess, but a limited space explanation was favoured.

@mjskay @chi someone would abuse it though and put 500 comments in the document
-
Post #678700
@mjskay @chi you’re looking for further ways to circumvent? Interesting strategy.

Here's my analysis of reviews produced for #chi2023 and the review process in phase 1. tl/dr better reviews approach 1000 words, and 1/3 of papers are not producing reviews, 2/3 are not producing enough (!) https://chi2023.acm.org/2023/01/05/investigating-the-quality-of-reviews-reviewers-and-their-expertise-for-chi2023/
