I just saw a LinkedIN post from some principal security doofus at Microsoft being loud and wrong about large language models. Serious question - given that Microslop has been producing trash code, which has been getting worse and worse over the last 30 years. Why do people still listen to them, or take them seriously? They wrote code so bad, it broke their text editor, why does anyone give credence to the things they say and write? I'm sure it has to do with some combo of money and market share, but these clowns have been loud and wrong for three decades. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that they are still doing it today. Maybe that's the one thing that has been consistent about them over the years? That and being run by monsters. #NoAI #microslop

@sauc3@hachyderm.io It is one example where trickle-down actually works. MS are very good at talking to decision makers at large companies. Their sales clout is top notch. The decision makers decide to standardise on MS. So the company does. Now those companies require other companies, also smaller ones, to be “compatible” (i.e.: also use MS). And because “everyone” uses MS at work, it is what they use at home. Because they are familiar with it and because “everyone else” does.

  • @sauc3@hachyderm.io I agree that they SOMEHOW MADE NOTEPAD.EXE EVEN WORSE which is insane, but they also have Dave Cutler. Without Cutler the entire world would be a complete UNIX monoculture. Is that a desirable outcome? https://blog.codinghorror.com/showstopper/
