Any #debian #linux hobbyist #techsupport on here? Apt installed a broken version of initramfs-tools and my system is now in an unbootable state. Anyone know how I might be able to fix this from a chrooted environment from a livecd? Can I just manually port a functioning initramfs-tools from another computer over since it's a binary and then dpkg reconfigure all?

Wel, I got far enough that grub now starts only to not be able to find the root by uuid and drops to initramfs cli. Just going to have to figure out what's going on there.

@RandamuMaki Not saying it's unrepairable, but sometimes when you're called upon to do an unknown amount of speculative software engineering, it's maybe time to make sure all your data's safe and just reinstall. In any case I do hope you can bust through this challenge.
