Wel, I got far enough that grub now starts only to not be able to find the root by uuid and drops to initramfs cli. Just going to have to figure out what's going on there.

The system runs fine when chrooted in, but it's broken somewhere between grub and init or something. With mdadm in there it complains about not being able to find the raid I don't have, without it it complains about not being able to find a btrfs which I don't use. Confusing.
