"Qix" (1981) had a few sequels, but "Volfied" (1989) is the sequel worth playing. The graphics are richer and the gameplay is more complex, with additional enemies moving around and some power-ups. One nice change is that a hit while cutting now gives you a short time to run back to the edge and avoid death. The only game of this type that I remember seeing was "Gals Panic II" (1993). Of course, racy versions were inevitable. And it was in a café (times were different). 🙄 #retrogaming #arcade

@carlosefr@mastodon.social Never had the arcade version of Qix where I grew up, but I did spend an exorbitant number of hours trying to out-strategize those stressfully unpredictable lines on a less vibrant but fun #C64 clone named Stix. Good times!
