"Qix" (1981) had a few sequels, but "Volfied" (1989) is the sequel worth playing. The graphics are richer and the gameplay is more complex, with additional enemies moving around and some power-ups. One nice change is that a hit while cutting now gives you a short time to run back to the edge and avoid death. The only game of this type that I remember seeing was "Gals Panic II" (1993). Of course, racy versions were inevitable. And it was in a café (times were different). 🙄 #retrogaming #arcade

Arcade versions of games tend to have better graphics and sound, as the hardware was more capable (and expensive) than home computers and consoles. But that doesn't mean that home ports can't be better. It often depends on the criteria. The Amiga port of "Volfied" (1991) may not look or sound as good as the arcade original, but it's very close and isn't out to get your money. #retrogaming #amiga

@carlosefr@mastodon.social This looks a lot like Ultimate Qix (Genesis/Mega Drive)
