Question for people running small (e.g. family) or single user #fediverse #instance s.
How do you tackle moderation? Are you subscribed to a remote blocklist? Are you blocking instances?
I'm thinking of putting up a #GoToSocial instance for myself and maybe a few friends and I'm wondering if there's something like "that instance is federating with XYZ, so we don't federate with it" going on.
I don't want to federate with bigots, but I also don't want to learn about all hateful instances.

@cinimodev, you're hosting your own instance right? What's your approach? 🙂

@mforester I use a mixture of @gardenfence and the @iftas automated consensus-based blocklist. Along with user reports and my own observations of course.

@mforester easy: I don't bother. My instance is single user, so I have no users to protect. So... I don't act like a moderator, I act like a user who has moderator-level tools.
