@cratermoon@zirk.us @bruces@mastodon.social A lot of those are for positions where there is an anointed candidate, but the company needs to have an “open” posting anyhow, so it writes the requirements so that only one person can fill it, and they post it for 24 hours. When I transitioned from perma-temp to regular employee at my current job, my position was posted that way.

@adamrice@c.im @cratermoon@zirk.us @bruces@mastodon.social During the late 1990's, there were job ads for Java programmers that required 7+ years experience in a 5-year-old technology. They were trying to poach the Java dev team, but weren't offering the salaries to match... :|
