cold take: if you "try linux" but you only install one distro (especially one that many around you said not to use), and it ends up being a shitty experience, you cannot declare "linux sucks" because Linux Is Not A Singular Thing.
I see people with an actual android (linux) phone calling linux shit after they tried ubuntu and it didn't work for them.
Try something else.
linux is like a bunch of screws and mounting materials, it's impossible to say if it is good without the rest of the parts

@anthropy@mastodon.derg.nz I'm a new Linux user and bouncing between LinuxMint on one machine and Ubuntu on another. I kinda prefer/have less issues on ubuntu, what's the reason people say not to use it?

@anthropy@mastodon.derg.nz Ubuntu's a pretty solid intro for workstation linux and has been for decades....and it sucks as a desktop/latop for many as the linux kernel just doesn't run stuff many peeps, and employers, depend upon. If someone can't get Ubuntu work for them, linux is perhaps not the place for them. It's also fine for people to try a linux OS and declare 'linux sucks' after doing so if it's not for you.
